Species of the Week: White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus)

Pennsylvania has one of the highest number of vehicle accidents involving deer per year. Here are two factors that cause an increase in deer accidents in the fall:

-Rut Season: Male deer are on a mission to find a mate and are not paying as much attention to their surroundings. Peak rut season occurs in mid-November. -The end of Daylight Saving Time: Daylight Saving Time will end this Sunday, November 7th and more commuters will be on the road at dusk. Dusk and dawn are when white-tailed deer are most active.

Stay safe and watch for deer!
